I have been blessed with the opportunity to work and play with writers for over 20 years – sometimes as a story whisperer; sometimes as a tuchas kicker; often as a producer or a director, always as a cheerleader, championing and nurturing creative and creative curious people.
In 2021, I began facilitating sojourns to Mexico. I host writing retreats in Cabo Pulmo, Mexico, a private writers paradise – week long deep dives, where we dig into our stories each day, still leaving plenty of time to dig our toes into the pristine sand on the secluded beach front property at Baja Serenity.
I hope you will join us for seven days and six nights of yummy people, brave and hilarious stories, luscious food, ample beach and snorkeling time, curated wine tastings, spectacular roof top stargazing, and a chance for deep, wildly fun, heart connections with like minded creatives.

Kick Back & Create is a glorious deep dive into your life on the page and off. Seven days and six nights in a completely magical corner of the world. Your senses and your heart will be filled with daily writing sessions, luscious chef prepared meals, spectacular sunrises and splashing about in the Sea of Cortez in Cabo Pulmo, Baja Sur, Mexico.
Our lunch and dinners each day are prepared with locally sourced food by our amazing Chef Kikki. He and his staff will also offer a cooking class that is not to be missed. You can register for the cooking class when you book your trip! Alcohol is an additional charge at checkout.
Why Baja Serenity? Baja Serenity is cool because it’s located at a unique intersection of mountains, desert and ocean, making for something very unusual in all of Baja. Just offshore, you find the only hard coral reef system in the entirety of the Baja Peninsula. In fact, it is one of only three coral reef systems along the entirety of the West Coast of North America. The scientists call this place a “geologic singularity.” Singular enough to be recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage. Now that’s pretty cool.
Baja Serenity is built with community in mind, and all the guests have full access to the beach-front deck and its stunning views, and much more.
Guests are literally a 30 second walk to the finest beachcombing, snorkeling and diving in all of Baja. The Sea of Cortez is known for its warm and gentle waters. No wetsuits required, and no undertows. Most days you can stroll into the sea as though you are strolling into a lake. You can linger there simply floating, or enjoy a leisurely swim to the point slightly north of the resort.
Only a few hundred yards to the south is the charming village of Cabo Pulmo, with restaurants, small bars and tidy convenience/grocery shops. Cabo Pulmo is a village with a rich history, as it was here that the Cabo Pulmo Marine Preserve was launched to international recognition.
After you’ve spent the day enjoying the beach or a hike, it is time to take a soak in the plunge pool and hot tub. There are outdoor showers, lounges and shade palapas nearby to round out your relaxation time.
The sky deck, as the name implies, overlooks all. It is the great getaway spot to take in the sunrise, catch some afternoon rays or watch the gorgeous emerging of planets and stars just following sundown. Join us for Cocktails and Constellations!
